Nevertheless, I feel justified with my reasons for adding Activision Blizzard to the list over their recent actions involving the Blitzchung ban, the Hong Kong protests, and the Communist Chinese Government. I would like to note: The reason they are on the Dirty Devs list is partly due to this being a "Straw that broke the Camel's back" situation. I have said it before and I will say it again. I do not stand alongside censorship, and the Chinese Government epitomizes that.
Great example of the Streisand Effect here. I had never heard of the Hearthstone Grandmasters or Blitzchung. But now thanks to Blizzard's attempts to silence him and remove the moment, I have not only heard his voice, his message has been spread far and wide, and probably reached corners of the internet that never would have heard about the Hong Kong situation otherwise.

"That was it."

Everybody looks at russia. Russia here. Russia there. But nobody looks at china, wich is the much bigger threat to the west. They come through the backdoor, silent and creepy, buying your corporations and rights with that. It will get worse.

The scope of their "investigation": phone rang, angry Chinese official screamed at them, they scrambled to punish him.
Gamers: Activision Blizzard is awful, they can’t possibly get worse.
Activision Blizzard: hold my Tsingtao

I feel a disturbance... as if a great voice of video game criticism, who is occasionally extremely cynical, and very British, is turning in his grave...

In all honesty, it’s probably for the best TotalBiscuit didn’t live to see this. It would have destroyed him. He loved Starcraft. He poured his life into blizzard.

I can still feel him turning in his grave. I wouldn’t be surprised if his corpse randomly reanimated to strangle Blizzard executives at this point.
Blizzard is doing enough to destroy its own reputation. it should ban itself.
from the same guys who said "do you not have phones?"
here comes the: we support the communist regime in china
China found a way to censor the west by utilizing our Achilles heel, money, when they started allowing companies to operate there they saw potential, not only to bolster their economy, but also in the long run how to control the west and potentially get us to censor ourselves.
Just imagine what Totalbiscut would be saying right now if he was still here with us. For all he did and has done for the SC Movement. I wish we could get a video from beyond the grave of his thoughts on this because it would be a treat.
"Until Blitzchung is reinstated and the money stolen by Blizz returned to him, I will not be attending BlizzCON this year, and I will not renew my subscription when it runs out this month." So there.

So, is there going to be a protest at Blizzcon 2019 in Anaheim California at the Convention Center? It is on October 31 to November 02.

Preach, my man. Blizzard has managed to, in one fell swoop, kill themselves. They cannot be allowed to recover from this, and we need to make sure of that. Nobody should ever buy an Activision/Blizzard game again. You won't be missing much anyway, their games have been awful for years.
Of note the main reason this issue exploded was how severe the penalty was. When we look at Blizzard Esports punishment history an OWL player was suspended for 7 games for a racial slur. Blitz said something political and got magnitudes more of a punishment. So ya your statement of kneejerk is a good statement but wanted to add the further context since it's solid precident.

I also think this will be a massive backfire on China. Canceling someone digitally tends to have the opposite effect, he is now the face of what was previously a faceless revolution which humanizes it so in all likelyhood we see a sizable uptick in international support.
Blizzard: Don't you guys have human rights?

Funny we finally reached the day where Communism beats out Capitalism by using what Capitalism loves the most: money. I guess the Cold War never really ended. It just went from bombs and bullets to stocks and investors.

2019: the fall of gaming companies
we've seen so many companies, once beloved, become unrecognisable: Bethesda is the most notable but others include Nintendo (debatable but their Mario kart on IOS was utter shite) and now Blizzard. honestly they deserve all the scorn they get and more but its still so sad.

Flame Soulis:
The biggest irony? I wasn't aware of the protests... but for attempting to censor everything, they instead made everyone now know about it. Nice job, China! Now you have the whole damn world to watch out for.
Sid - I'ma try not to rant.

me - Turns down headphones.

sid - Rants.

xD Love ya Sid, keep it rolling!

Next person to win a tourney from Blizzard should violate their TOS and say “Nazism is bad and racial equality should be celebrated”. See whether Blizzard redacts that because of content being offensive to a group.
It's so god damn funny ... China owns stakes in:

- Ubisoft
- Acti-Blizz
- Take 2

- Epic

Only EA is indeed missing on that list and China would hold stocks in EVERY SINGLE MOST SCUMBAGGISH VG-COMPANY!
China is just buying America, nothing new

Looks like Blizzard and Activision is on my “do not buy” list.

Zachary Giarnieri
Zachary Giarnieri:
I used to like Blizzard, but when they joined up with Activision. Then did what Activision deos, just broke me and I stoped playing. Honestly the Blizzard that we knew is gone.
The irony is that Acti-Blizz ensured blitzchung got what he wanted. People all over the world are now talking about this as well as the situation in China.
Got friends in Hong Kong, as soon as I heard I stopped buying Activision & Blizzard stuff, I'm joining the boycott.
The irony in ultra-capitalism serving communism is tangible here.

Fascinating how Blizzard openly states that people who side with the rightful Hong Kong protesters are damaging their image. I would have thought it's the exact opposite

At least the people at Blizzard were kind enough to inform me of their priorities. I will also be informing them of my priorities with my wallet
i guess this means blizzard supports forced organ harvesting of their dissenters too?
The most interesting thing about thie story for me is the part where South Park got banned from China for making fun of China for banning things that make fun of them...

The thing here is that Blitzchung may have been banned for 12 months, but will his life actually last for another 12 months?
That ending was pure gold.
Richard Samuelson
Richard Samuelson:
Wasn't the US afraid of the spread of Communist influence back in the 1960s-1970s? Back when Soviet Russia was still around?
That old US would likely be utterly terrified of China's reach today.
Blizzard's reaction and actions are giving Blitzchung's message more push and reach than it otherwise would have had.

"Oh bother!" Says Presitator Pooh Bear.
Any company that puts profits over human rights is a company that does not deserve to exist.
After all, if they're willing to look away to people suffering across the globe who's to say what they won't look away from amongst it's own people?

The Communist Party is dying, quite literally. Elders will likely soon outnumber the workforce 6 to 1.
The rising generation in China has seen the results of their brutal enforcement of the one child policy and will be burdened with supporting said 6 elders each before even starting with children.
As it stands it currently this means that a generation disillusioned with the Party and with ever greater access to info from outside the Party's propaganda and very good reason to find better pay will soon be taking over the majority of jobs.
So I expect there either to be an exodus with people looking for better pay elsewhere or an utter collapse of the economy as there are simply not enough people to fill the sweatshops anymore.
Ashura Dragosani
Ashura Dragosani:
And this is why I said they just need to move the company over into China. They only want that market, they could care less about the American market anymore. Just looks at Blizzcon and what they have done with their games. Diablo mobile? No one wanted that. But mobile is big in China.
