Why doesn't Disney just use this technology to make it's own new story instead of doing all these bland remakes?

If they're gonna make a remake, they should pick a movie that deserves a second chance. Coughs. TREASURE PLANET.

The worst thing to me was Jeremy Irons not voicing Scar.

It's soulless because photorealism doesn't lend its self to animation. There's literally no character design. It's a bunch of animals out of National Geographic documentary, and their appearance and expressions say absolutely nothing about their character.

Think of how much better a hand drawn full length "Lion King Origins" would have been instead. Learning about Mufasa and Scars life BEFORE Simba. Complete with a great score and same animation. We have wanted this since 1995 and I hate that it will never happen.

Actually, they could've told the story of Scar and Mufasa's childhood. Or they could've told the story from Scar's point of view. But hey, at least it would be different.

You're basically watching animal planet in 4k but with voice acting.

So basically it’s the same movie with a realistic look, tbh, it’s exactly what I was expecting

Its the same problem. Scrip writing/acting/editing (character building) is what really hits people. Not graphics.

I agree with you man. Disney has to stop making live action Remakes. All they care about now is Money.

Okay, Lion King is a souless shot by shot remake. Then I just don't understand why he praised the Beauty and the Beast remake so much.

You know what live action remake Disney should make? Atlantis. So underrated and would definitely be sick with live action and CGI.

You sound so disappointed and soulless...

It breaks my heart.

I knew it was going to be bad from the moment I seen the trailer part where Mufasa says “remember who you are” and he says it so bland.

I just reminds me of a nature documentary. They have absolutely no expressions on their face.

For me it is a crime to make a remake of Lion King. The original would be perfect for centuries.

Agreed with this review. The personality is lacking. There is no soul in this film atall. The 1994 animation was pure soul, passion and joy mixed with epic sadness and evil that gets crushed by the epic Destiny of Simba. Rafiki barely talks atall. He didn't get his stick until the end of the film and there was no humor in him. He was awesome in the original but the remake ruined him.

Don’t remake iconic films; remake films with great concepts, but failed execution.

It’s ironic that Disney, a company that built itself up on original, dazzling, and timeless films, is now just cashing in on said films by just releasing the same films in a different cinematographic style and making billions off them.

When they change something we get mad saying why would you change something that is good, when they don't change it we get mad saying it's exactly the same...
Asides from the fact that every remake is made purely for money, i personally like the option of not touching the good stuff... Unless you wanna find yourself watching Jasmin's song with a meltdown

Good review. And even after this film. Lion King from 1994, I grew up on it. It is one of my favorite films still to this day. And this new one was decent. But i still stand by saying. "STOP REMAKING CLASSICS!"
